Georgia: The Country That Captured My Heart

I have had the privilege of travelling to different parts of the world and experiencing various cultures, traditions, and ways of life. Every country has its own charm and beauty, but among all the places I have visited, one country holds a truly special place in my heart—Georgia. More specifically, the beautiful city of Kutaisi, which I proudly call my second home.

For the past ten years, I have had the blessing of living in Georgia. During this time, I have witnessed both the good and the difficult phases of life. Like every journey, mine has been filled with moments of joy, challenges, victories, and hardships. Yet through all these years, one thing has never changed—my love for this remarkable country. In fact, I often say that I would like to spend the rest of my life here and take my last breath on this blessed land.

A Nation with a Rich History

Georgia is one of the oldest Christian nations in the world. Christianity became the state religion in 337 AD through the efforts of Saint Nino, who brought the message of Christ to the Georgian people. Throughout history, Georgia has faced invasions, wars, and countless struggles, yet its spirit has remained unbroken. The Georgian people have preserved their language, traditions, and faith for centuries, making the country a symbol of resilience and devotion.

From the ancient Kingdom of Colchis and Iberia to the glorious reign of King David the Builder and Queen Tamar, Georgia's history is rich with stories of courage and faith. Despite many hardships, the nation has always emerged with dignity and strength.

The Beauty of Georgia

Georgia is a country blessed with breathtaking natural beauty. From the majestic Caucasus Mountains to the peaceful valleys and vineyards, every corner of the country offers something unique.

Tbilisi, the capital city, beautifully combines history and modernity. Batumi, located on the Black Sea coast, attracts visitors with its vibrant atmosphere and stunning seaside views. Kazbegi amazes travellers with its dramatic mountain scenery, while Svaneti offers a glimpse into ancient traditions and untouched landscapes.

Yet for me, Kutaisi remains the most special place. One of the oldest cities in Europe, Kutaisi possesses a unique charm. Its peaceful atmosphere, historical significance, and warm-hearted people make it truly unforgettable. Landmarks such as Bagrati Cathedral, Gelati Monastery, Sataplia Nature Reserve, and Prometheus Cave showcase the city's remarkable heritage and natural beauty.

A Culture of Hospitality

One of the greatest treasures of Georgia is its people. Georgians are known throughout the world for their hospitality and generosity. Guests are not merely visitors; they are treated as family. The warmth, kindness, and sincerity that I have experienced during my years here have left a lasting impression on me.

The traditional Georgian "Supra" reflects the nation's spirit of unity and friendship. Families gather around tables filled with delicious food, while heartfelt toasts celebrate life, love, faith, and friendship. This culture of togetherness is something truly extraordinary.

A Deeply Rooted Christian Faith

As an Orthodox Christian myself, one of the reasons I feel so connected to Georgia is its profound spiritual heritage. The Georgian Orthodox Church has played a central role in preserving the identity and values of the nation. Magnificent churches and monasteries can be found throughout the country, standing as symbols of faith and devotion.

Places such as Gelati Monastery, Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, Jvari Monastery, and the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Tbilisi are not only architectural masterpieces but also sacred places that inspire peace and spiritual reflection.

Living in a country where Orthodox Christianity is deeply respected has strengthened my own faith and given me a sense of belonging. The ringing church bells, the ancient traditions, and the devotion of the people remind me daily of the enduring power of faith.

A Place I Call Home

Over the last decade, Georgia has become far more than just a country where I reside—it has become home. Here, I have experienced life's highs and lows, made memories that I will cherish forever, and found a sense of peace and acceptance that is difficult to describe.

Although I have travelled across the world, my heart remains in Georgia, especially in the beloved city of Kutaisi. This beautiful nation, with its rich history, breathtaking landscapes, welcoming people, and deep Christian roots, has given me more than I could ever repay.

Today, I can proudly say that Georgia is not simply a place I live—it is a place I love. And by God's grace, it is a place where I hope to spend the rest of my days.

Georgia has captured my heart, and it will forever remain a part of my soul.
